Ch.2 History Of Australia & New Zealand

This second chapter discusses the first instance of colonization by the British navy and the unruly convicts. There journey over to Australia was filled with many perils, from diseases onboard that wiped out large numbers, to stunted first attempts at agriculture that threatened famine, many a convict felt game enough to try there luck at freedom by escaping into the uncharted scrub beyond there captors reach, only to be sun scorched or famished to death. Such was the trials and anxieties that this first wave of British in this great southern land faced.
